The Embroiderer’s Guild NSW is a not-for-profit membership body for anyone and everyone who loves to stitch or would love to learn. People of all ages and walks of life join the Guild for all sorts of reasons: following their creative urge; mastery of a new skill; a love of traditional crafts; memories of learning from family members; the company of like-minded people – just to name a few!
For the Sydney Mini Maker Faire, the ‘Guild’ will be working with you to create a participant piece throughout the Faire, inviting people to walk up and “Colour a Square”. Supported on a floor stand will be a piece of hessian marked in to ‘squares’, suitable threads and equipment will be provided to enable you to add your design to the art piece. As this is a live piece, you see it grow out of nothing throughout the duration of the Faire, like the tree (featured image) they created at their event last November.
The Embroiderer’s Guild NSW challenges you find to the courage to step right up: select a colour, and work your magic. No embroidery skill is required, it is not even necessary to stay with in the lines.
